Indonesian Man Jailed After Failing To Pay $5,000 Fine

Bandar Seri Begawan - An indonesia man was sentenced to a three-month jail yesterday on failure to pay $5,000 in fine imposed by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for the possession of $661 worth of uncustomed cigarettes.

Mukhamad Luqman Alhijomi, 27, from Pontianak, pleaded guilty to possessing 10 cartons of Dji Sam Soe, three cartons of Dji Sam Soe Super Premium, 20 cartons of Gudang Garam Syura, and 10 cartons of Gudang Gararn International.
Prosecuting Officer from the Royal Customs and Excise Department said the cigarettes were found inside a cargo compartment of a bus, which arrived at the inwards section of the Sungai Tujoh Control Post two days ago.
The defendant admitted to possessing the goods, which he had brought from Pontianak. --
